"Spears stood up for herself Thursday for the first time in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline and faced the court commissioner who took her kids away, citing drug and alcohol abuse by the pop princess.

By the time the closed-door session was over, Spears was awarded one overnight stay a week with her two little boys even though she won't be left alone with them - someone appointed by the court will be monitoring her.

She spent about an hour before the commissioner, who earlier declined to rule on her emergency request to expand visitation.

She then drove from the courthouse in a white Mercedes-Benz and was swarmed by news media at a stop light, escaping only after sheriff's deputies ran from the courthouse to aid her.

Neither Spears nor her attorneys spoke to reporters after the hearing.

Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini announced that the visitation order had been modified to permit the children, who were recently placed in Federline's custody, to have one overnight visit a week with their mother.

Spears was previously allowed monitored visits with the children but no overnight stays.

Parachini said he could not say who the overnight monitor would be.

Spears testified during the hearing, he said. "Her voice was soft and respectful."

33. Does this girl know how to stay home? A day doesn't go by without Britney's life being on the internet. And she acts like she likes it. I can't believe she wore that shirt in front of a judge. That girl need's to get a clue. And as for the pap's always being around, they are either camping in her yard or she's calling them. I'll be glad when she grow's up and quit flashing herself all the time. It's so unlady like. If I had a multi-million dollar home, I think they would have to drag me out of it. What a waste.

34. Why are the baby shoe pink? I've wondered this for a while because she has boys...And, why id there one pair of pink shoes?? She has two kids...Alright, here is my thought...She's not totally crazy, I believe that she is severly depressed & that the strange stuff that we all see her do is b/c of that & she is trying to soothe her pain & misery with the booze. Ok, back to the PINK baby shoes- They are hanging from her mirror for a reason, was Britney supposed to have a baby girl also? Did she have a miscarrage? Is that why there are there & was Kevin her support through this while they were together?
Could Kevin not take it anymore & thats why the split up?
Hmmmm......It makes you wonder...So, in short- the media should cut her a break & so should we...There is a portrait painted of her by the media & by us but, do ANY OF US REALLY KNOW WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON???? Yes, I agree she needs to get out of California & get help.
I have watched her strange behavior just like the rest of you have but, one thing is for sure- The media is hurting her...She has some problems but, so do I & I'm damned sure that everyone else out there does too...She is targeted by the media and I'm sure that it was fun at first but, it WILL eventualy die off...Let's just all think & fully evaluate the situation before we assume... B/c it makes an ASS OUT OF U & ME!!Thank you!

This chic seriously needs a reality check...can someone (a normal person) sit with her & view her pics & videos...she really needs to see what the hell she looks like when she goes out in public..maybe she's so f*&^* up that she doesn't realize it, seriously...she should be getting help with her addictions & taking parenting classes in order to get any sort of custody her boys...she's still out partying at night, walks around during the day like the night of the living dead & the crotch shots have to go, put on sweats girl...this isn't a joke, you will see when your kids are taken from you, family court judges are alot tougher than the judges who have been letting u, lindsay, paris, etc. walk...for all your bs drunk driving antics, you would not get away with that here in new york trust me...get it together or say goodbye to your kids girl....you must have a beautiful home & help, send them out for your essentials & stay home already, it's getting alittle sickening seeing ur face plastered all over the place, your not that important, our soldiers are a hell of alot more important than you & do not get the coverage that you do....see ya

39. It's no big deal if she wants to eat every meal out. Actually, some people don't cook. It's not terribly healthy, but to each their own.

Although I do believe that her attire is inappropriate. It's one thing to show the chesticles on the red carpet, it's not something that one would consider appropriate daytime wear for an adult. And Britney (age-wise) is an adult. With children.

40. #27 When wearing a dress, not a shirt AS a dress, you are sitting on the dress. Your bare ass is not touching the seat any more or less if you were wearing panties. I wear or don't wear particular clothing by choice or for comfort, not because I lack respect for myself. I respect myself and those around me enough to know how to conduct myself in public. As far as unsanitary, I don't share my clothing with other people. DUH, DUH, LOL again it's my choice.

Patty -- I was just going to say the SAME thing!!!!! Someone PLEASEEE tell TMZ to stop STALKING Britney!!!! I wish someone would sue them - seriously. Not a day goes by that TMZ is not on that girl's case. Hell. look at last week when they stalked her TURNING A CORNER In her car! That is STALKING!!!!!! They just charged a guy for stalking Uma Thurman, why is TMZ any different? A NON story like her turning a corner in her car IS stalking her. WHO else would be low enough to do that?
